‘Weaving Stories of Indonesia : Nusa Tenggara Timur’
Our collection titled “Weaving Stories of Indonesia: NTT” showcases contemporary women’s wear, crafted from hand-woven textiles from Lembata, Nusa Tenggara Timur, Indonesia. The products are also supported by additional hand-woven textiles from Adonara, Mamasa and Toraja.
Weaving from Lembata and Adonara is famous for its distinctive motifs, namely Penetoten and Mowak. The unique geometric shape of the Penetoten was reinvented in the form of detailed shapes throughout this collection. The design concept underlines the pricelessness of cultural heritage and the ingenuity of Lembata and NTT. This collection also aims to drive awareness towards the importance of women in rural societies. We also wish to honour diversity and inclusiveness of this archipelago of Indonesia, by incorporating H to A silhouettes and styles that cater to different female body shapes. To further emphasize practicality, functionality, and utility of our new line, we are offering a range that covers urban wear, travel wear, resort wear, and ethnic wear. Finally, we pay our respects to the driving force and to the embodiment of the spirit of resilience; the women weavers, Ina-Ina from our communities in Lembata.
